Positioning > Predicting

Something I have changed my mind about recently. I no longer stress about acquiring more knowledge so that I can predict better. I prefer acquiring more options so that I don’t need to predict.

The Positioning > Predicting philosophy shows up in my choice of projects, how I spend my time, and who I spend it with.

When you have options, you have the right but no obligation to choose. 🆓
When you are out of options, you have an obligation to choose and no right to refuse. 🔒

Having options for oneself is a privilege. Obligated is a duty. When you’re obligated to do something, uncertainty is killing. When you’ve chosen something over other available options, you are likely to have factored in uncertainty and so may be better prepared.

If you’ve just one obligation, it is to yourself and it is to create options for yourself.

I would love to hear what you have changed your mind about recently.
